Tech Force Contender Series® 89 - .177 Caliber
[TF89]

The Tech Force Contender Series® Model 89 is one sweet breakbarrel air rifle! The crisp open sights are definitley a cut above the rest. They are high quality and both the front and rear sights are all-metal and sharp. The rear sight is fully adjustable and has a fine scale for the windage adjustment and a crisp thumbwheel for elevation. The beechwood stock is beautiful and very well-made. Reddish overtones enhance the rich, dark brown color and the pistol grip and forearm are covered with two generous panels of fine checkering. The Contender 89 is not only beautiful, its very powerful, shooting at 1100 fps, and its very accurate! At 30 yards, the C-T-C measured 0.442". This rifle does not diesel, buzz, vibrate, has very little recoil and an extremely light cocking effort. It will hold its own with the TX200, Beeman R1 and the RWS 48 rifles at a much lower cost. It also comes with a muzzle brake and blade front sight with standard features including a scope block and soft rubber recoil pad.

I just got my 3rd TF89. I own one in .177, another in .22. The third I had bought for my brother as a gift because I am so happy with these. The last one I got came on the same day as an RWS350, because I wanted to finally sit down and compare a respected European rifle with the TF89. I came away not all too shocked that the TF89 held up 1-to-1 side by side. It was just as smooth, just as accurate, just as comfortable to shoot, easier to cock, slightly lighter, and slightly less powerful -- which I might actually consider a good thing. The best part: it was 1/3rd the price. Take every negative you have ever heard about Chinese springers and throw it right out the window. This gun is as good as rifles costing 3Xs as much. Get this rifle and get it tuned, and you'll be at the cost of many Euro rifles, and you will be shooting a lot better than any of them. Just excellent. No other word for it. The best value you will find.

I just received the Tech Force 89 spring piston rifle in .22 caliber about a week or so ago. After sighting it in with the fiber optic open sights it comes with, I discovered it was quite accurate. At about 35 yards, I was able to consistently hit water filled aluminum beverage cans with explosive special effects, using a variety of pellets. The trigger pull is quite good and downrange it hits very hard for a pellet rifle. The gun is large and heavy, but it's function, fit, finish and appearance seem to be excellent. For the price and apparent quality, it certainly appears to be a real bargain. No doubt it would be an effective tool for use on rat sized vermin and small game, right out to 50 or so yards, perhaps even further with a scope. I recommend this powerful pellet rifle to anyone who wants good value for their money.

I just got this rifle and pumped about 100 pellets through. I want to start my review with this word: Awesome. I tried my first TF rifle just last year, buying a TF97. I didn't think a rifle that cheap would be well built easy to shoot and accurate, but it was. After shooting with it for a year and getting to trust it, I started looking at a few more powerful TF rifles, and at the suggestion of Eric went with the TF 89. I am very glad I did. I read a lot of reviews before my purchase and watched some video reviews as well, and I find everything they said negative about this rifle to be inaccurate. My sites are not plain metal, there are fibre optics, and I think they are useful as is. When cocking the site does not at all rub the stock. At the same time the gun is everything I read about that was positive: *accurate *near zero vibration, twang *no dieseling/smoking *lots of power *nice to hold *a great value I added a TF 2-7x32 scope on a 1-piece mount, and think it is a great combo. I'd actually bought the scope for the TF97, but changed it for a Bushnell scope that gave me more room over the breach for loading. This TF scope fits this gun much better and I'm glad to have the adjustable objective. This rifle is still breaking in, but already it is WAY smoother than the TF97 that I've put thousands of pellets through. It may actually be too powerful for some things (I was shooting a RAM in a rocker trap from 30 yards, and second shot took the base off the ram, the first had made a nice dent in the heavy metal), but great for small game. 7.5 pellets were going half inch into hard wood. With the recent sale of 25% off, I got a super deal on this and am super happy with the purchase. 100 pellets in it is already my favorite gun, and I have to think it will only get better. Thanks Compasseco...and let me end with that word again... Awesome.

This is an awesome rifle. Even though the reviews are good, I didn\'t know what to expect... but for the money, I jumped in. Boy, am I glad I did. Beautiful stock, flawless metal work, Great trigger, and accurate! I purchased the .22 and now it is my favorite springer out of many. The only thing I would change, (and I did), is to have a scope stop hole on the top of the spring chamber. This rifle has kick and after some rounds the scope stop included with the gun gave up the ghost and broke. I had a spare so I ground a shallow grove in the rifle and dropped the set pin on the scope stop into it... no more scope slide.

my wife bought me this for my birthday recently. it is an impressive rifle. my opinion is identical to rick eutsler's. my chrono and accuracy test are the same. this rifle has insane power for the back yard. my gamo 440 .177 is like a toy by comparison. i advise to watch your backstop as this rifle will zip right through 3/8 piece of plywood. the 89's quality exceeded my expectations for the price. the only thing that is low budget is the scope stop. i'm using a one piece mount with a bushnell tropy 3-9x40 and it doesn't budge. this rifle is getting easier to handle after a few huindred rounds and learning it's feel. the trigger is a firm brisk break. it's size and balance are close to that of my M1A. recoil seems a little less than my mini-14. 50-75 shots in an afternoon is a good arm workout. i give this rifle a best buy rating. for entertainment i fill steel soup cans with water and shoot them at 15-20 yards with crosman premier hollwpoints and they jump 2-3 feet in the air with the pellets expanding to .25 cal everytime tearing a nasty hole. if anyone needs more power than this buy a pcp. this rifle rocks! thank you tech force for an affordable powerhouse!

This seems to be an excellent gun. I'm still breaking it in (350? rounds) and finding what pellets it likes.

Velocities are averaging 830fps with Crossman Premiers. It's shooting through 3/4" shop grade plywood with some pellets and through 2 soup cans (one inside the other) and still going about 1/4" into the plywood!

RWS Super H-points seem to be the most accurate so far (of the 8 I have). Still experimenting with holds as it seems like resting the front of the stock on anything solid decreases accruacy.

The finish (both wood and metal) are very nice. The trigger is adjustable and my second stage is set at about 3# with a nice first stage. The trigger shape is nice but it wobbles side-to-side, like the pivot hole is too large.

Overall I'm very pleased with this gun.

Thank you Compsseco for sending me the order , so quickly. I ordered the Contender 89 series in the .22 caliber with a Beeman Sting 15.74 pellet and let me tell you at 75 yards This air rifle will punch center holds into cans. When I tell you this gun means business it means serious hunters beware theres a new preditor in the game for less money than American and European Air Rifles. When Sempter comes I know I can say good bye Jack rabbits because they will be in my bag at 50 to 75 yards with a nice leopod scope. If you are a serious airgunner get one of these babies.
